PAXTON, MA: 45 hours of restoration work went into bringing this wonderful 1976 pinball EM from Williams back to playing in better than new condition. Here’s what we did: replaced all rubber with premium silicone grade rubber and replaced plastic set with brand new set. We cleaned and rebuilt the steppers in head and and replaced a broken plastic arm for credit unit and small slugs for credit unit and player unit than were throughly worn out. These are NLA so had to source them froma friend who had a set available. Cleaned and rebuilt the playfield and cabinet stepper units and pm’d spinner minny steppers. and pm’d left and right bouns count down steppers.
We rebuilt flipper assemblies , and cleaned and lubricated the standup drop down targets and replaced the one broken one through extensive research to find a source that had one available. We took topside of playfield off, deep cleaned the playfield and topside light sockets and red posts, retapped holes for red post screws that were loose (10 of them), new lights in playfield GI, and warm Comet LED lighgting for behind the backglass. Magic erasured playfield to bring out the color and then extensively touched it up. Rebuilt top and bottom side of pop bumpers, cleaned, adjusted and repaired score reel units. Rebuilt chime unit and replaced burned out chime coil. De-ox all female jones plugs in head and cab. Removed solder splash from large jones plug in cab rear.
Adjusted bottom cab relay switches only the ones that were barely making contact. Cleaned all light lenses and bulbs and installed new bulbs where needed. Rebuilt left and right spinner switches. Left spinner wasn’t spinning well due to factory installation defect. rectified the defect and now spins as it should. Reglued down left red arrow as it was sitting too high. Buffed coin door and glass receiver metal and arch metal , shooter lane metal, shooter rod and housing, new shooter spring and sleeve and tip. Re-assembled all. Touched up black lines on playfield. Cleaned apron and shooter guide, cleaned under apron ball serve area. Cleaned coin door and buffed metal. New sheet of tempered playfield glass.
Touched up backglass black areas. Cleaned score reel number faces and replaced the “ones” place holder stickers for each as there were badly faded. Modified drop target reset circuit with bridge rectifier for better reset functionality. Adjusted player 3 and 4 slant on the score reels to straighten them. Intsalled black barrel rubbers on plastics, new lock for back box door and for front door, adjusted score thresholds, New apron card. New mirror glazed ball. Cleaned cabinet and head artwork. Cleaned and buffed and added mylar to hold relay to get rid of 60hz buzz.
